Virginia courts order life skills under the Code of Virginia. Common charges include Assault and Battery (Va. Code ยง18.2-57), Assault and Battery of a Family Member (Va. Code ยง18.2-57.2), Threats (Va. Code ยง18.2-60), and Disorderly Conduct (Va. Code ยง18.2-415).

Virginia is unique in having independent cities that are separate from counties. This means Virginia has 95 counties plus 38 independent cities, each with their own court system.

For domestic violence convictions under Va. Code ยง18.2-57.2, first-time offenders may be eligible for a first offender disposition under ยง18.2-57.3, which may require life skills. Courts may also order a certified batterer intervention program for DV cases.
